Events filled the UM-Flint Campus Last Weekend
Despite the nasty weather this past weekend, the University of Michigan-Flint campus was filled with community members participating in a variety of activities. Fundraising walks, health fairs, and a river clean-up were just some of the activities that brought the community to campus. Arthritis Walk had approximately 300 attendees and walked through campus to raise money for arthritis research. During this event, the Flint River Watershed Coalition had 260 volunteers working on the Flint River Cleanup. Educational Opportunity Initiatives hosted the “Why We Can’t Wait, Flint, MI” Summit, which brought in approximately 120 guests to discuss the disparities of African-American Males and their barriers to success. They also partnered with the Arab-American Heritage Council to host a Health Fair in the University Pavilion. The Spot Light School of Dance filled the UM-Flint Theatre this past weekend with a number of performances during their Spring Dance Concert.
Obviously the weather wasn’t going to stop folks from coming out in the rain and wind to take part in all of these important events, and that says a lot about our community! The University of Michigan-Flint is a community partner in a number of community events. Wait until you see what we have in store this summer!
