UM-Flint Social Media Update | November 2010

What’s New

It is our goal in University Relations to exemplify best practices in the realm of social media, to serve as a resource to the rest of campus, and to learn all we can about new and emerging trends. This fall, the UM-Flint Social Marketers Group was established. Comprised of representatives from across campus, the group meets monthly to brainstorm and share resources. The result has been just what we hoped for–collaboration and information-sharing, networking, and new ideas!

Most recently, we created a UM-Flint Social Marketers Facebook group to facilitate ongoing conversation. This is an open group, and anyone with an interest in social media is welcome to join. If you would like more information about the UM-Flint Social Marketers Group, contact Alaina Wiens at [email protected].

Social Media Facts and Figures

Our Audience:

Our Reach:

  • The highest number of “interactions per post” on Facebook was 6.1 on November 27.
  • The highest number of “total interactions” in one day on Facebook was 37 on November 19. The majority of these interactions were a result of Friday Trivia and the Bookstore’s textbook rental announcement.
  • The highest number of photo views was 125 on November 22, when photos of UM-Flint’s constructed float for the 2010 Flint Holiday Festival parade were posted.
  • The tweeted links most often clicked were a link to the Bookstore textbook rental announcement on the UM-Flint News site, and a link to the Contact Us page on the UM-Flint website. The Bookstore announcement received attention on both Facebook and Twitter, showing us that users are interested in this type of content. The “Contact Us” link was tweeted in response to a student’s tweeted question.
