Job Description:
The focus of this internship is communications with opportunities to work on initiatives including (but not limited to): economic development, health, education, and community development.
Hours: 16 – 24 hours per week
Duration: Jan – April 2013
Schedule and duration of internship is negotiable
Compensation: unpaid
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Students majoring in (but not limited to) Communications, Marketing, Economic or Community Development.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above preferred
- Entrepreneurial and self-disciplined
- Excellent writing skills
- Believes that Flint is alive and changing
- Letter detailing what the student hopes to gain from the internship
- Resourcefulness in finding information and answers; highly motivated
- Ability to prioritize/execute to achieve desired project goals with prudence and sense of urgency
- Computer skills/proficiency required, including knowledge with Power Point
Responsibilities
- Improve and update FARO’s website
- Update communications related to all FARO projects, including Facebook and Twitter on a daily basis
- Assist with FARO’s quarterly newsletter
- Participate in local communication collaborative
- Help create a communication strategy for numerous FARO-led initiatives
- Assist with research and communication of funding opportunities for local organizations
- Assist with event coordination
