Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelors degree in engineering, minor in Information Systems is a plus, with a passion for automating engineering processes and systems. (An information systems degree is acceptable if coupled with experience within an engineering team). Process automation or system design (process work flows, PDM administration, process automation, database management, etc.) or computer programming experience is required. JAVA, HTML, VB, VBA, SolidWorks and Product Configuration / Mass-Customization experience is a big plus. A solid understanding of basic manufacturing system concepts (bill of materials (BOM), routings, item masters, etc.) is required.

Areas of Responsibility:
This person will be a member of the product engineering team focusing on the development and implementation of engineering standards. This will be done using the existing product configurator software to create user interfaces that collect all engineering inputs required for product specification, establish adequate rules and equations to insure product specifications are within the product line capability and, design proper outputs (ie: BOMs, Drawings, Models, etc.) to meet the needs of the organization.
The duties and responsibilities for this engineering role, include, but are not limited to the following listed items.
This Engineer will be located in our Michigan facility and is responsible for:
• utilizing project management system to define, value and execute all aspects of user’s active project
•developing, testing and implementing logic for automating the processes for defining product specifications, quoting, product design, BOM and packaging design processes for a variety of different product lines
• actively participating and working with engineering and manufacturing to develop engineering standards
•working with engineering, IT and/or outside vendors to integrate engineering systems
•supporting product configurator users

Environment
• A small to medium size specialty manufacturing company pursuing a team based approach, and incorporating the Theory of Constraints approach to manufacturing operations.
• There are 3 locations of the Rex Materials organization, a world leader in vacuum formed ceramic fiber products. The locations are Michigan, Kansas and Virginia
• Products vary from one of a kind high value custom items to high volume, low cost shipments.
• Rex Materials Corporation ships products throughout both domestic and international markets.
