Viewing Holds on Your Account
I think I have an hold on my account, how can I be sure?
What is a hold?
A hold is a restriction placed on your student account by a department or administrative office due to some unfulfilled requirement. These can range from Cashier’s holds for an unpaid balance to a departmental hold for required advising. Either way, knowing whether or not you have any holds on your account is crucial because they can prevent you from registering for classes.
How do I find my holds?
Viewing your holds is fairly simple, hop on to SIS and go to the “Student Services” tab. Once you have opened this menu, click on “Student Records” and “View Holds” should be the first link at the top. When you click on “View Holds” it should give you a list of any and all holds that are on your account along with the department or office that they originated from. Under some very rare circumstances, you may have a hold on your account that does not show up on SIS. If you are encountering difficulties registering for classes and cannot find a hold, contact the AACC at (810) 762-3085 and we will be more than happy to help you figure things out.
I have a hold, how do I get rid of it?
To get rid of a hold you need to contact the department or office that it originated in and then fulfill certain requirements. Certain holds can sometimes be “lifted” for a short amount of time allowing you to register for classes, but will be put on your account again until the unfulfilled requirement is taken care of.
