Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business administration or related field. MBA/Master’s in operation research preferred. CPIM certification preferred. Two (2) years of experience in materiel planning, preferably in an aftermarket context (specifically aviation). Advanced quantitative skills, with capability to manipulate and analyze large quantities of data. Fluent with planning models and associated systems. Strong communication and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to coach, develop and train in a business setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in definition of total requirements for AOD materiel by forecasting independent demand (failures) and monitoring creation of dependent demand from scheduled maintenance events.
  • Provide substantial support in the creation of a time-phased plan of materiel receipts that optimizes the FedEx inventory levels by utilizing repairable stock wherever possible and managing tradeoff between lead time, inventory carrying costs and inventory valuation.
  • Support process and performance discussion with the internal customer regarding allocations and their contribution to level of service.
  • Assist allocation process for parts under the individual’s control, including recommending approval of field requests for new allocations and managing the rebalancing and return of allocations already made to the field.
  • Provide input and feedback on performance of the parts planning system-generated data and the planning parameters (e.g., target stock level calculations) that influence the system-generated recommendations, as a path to a thorough understanding of the application.
  • Develop and communicate performance reports and metrics on inventory investment, level of service achievement and work queue management.
  • Collaborate with data management, dependent demand, procurement and repair order groups as required to enable full comprehension of issues and events impacting demand and materiel plan.
  • Provide point of contact for assigned fleet-related materiel plan issues and opportunities.
  • Review and identify failure trends, and perform root cause analysis.
  • Perform financial evaluations to assess impact of fleet changes and variance of actual from plan.
  • Utilize planning system to identify surplus, excess, and unserviceable hold (unhd) activity levels.
  • Participate in initial provisioning (ip) and fleet retirement evaluations and implementation.
