Graduate Programs

Blogs from students, faculty & staff

In this week’s graduate student spotlight, we’re highlighting Justin Nguyen, a student of Physical Therapy! Justin enjoys learning and looks forward to applying what he’s learned in his program in the field! He is interested in studying many different types of treatments, and enjoys seeing how individual plans can help patients in different ways. He enjoys volunteering, and tries to practice good habits to keep him not just in shape for himself, but for his schoolwork and patients as well. Justin likes learning the roots of each condition he’s learning to treat, and enjoys the scenery around campus as an avid attendee of the Flint Farmers Market. We asked Justin about some of his favorite things about studying at UMF, and if he has any advice for other students. This is what he had to say:

What’s Your Favorite Part of Your Graduate Program?

My favorite part of the physical therapy program is learning how to apply different interventions after learning the pathology and pathophysiology of a disease or condition. I also enjoy the several volunteering opportunities available to you.

What’s Your Favorite Part of Campus?

My favorite part of campus is that it’s within walking distance to the farmers’ market. It’s a great place to look around and eat in-between classes (Beirut is my favorite).

Any Advice for Other Students?

Studying all day will not improve your performance in the classroom. You should also take care of yourself with good daily habits. This includes exercise, quality sleep, proper nutrition, meditation, and getting some fresh air.
