You are invited to the UM-F bus trip to the Detroit Institute of Arts!  Dr. Lippert, an art historian in the Department of Communications and Visual Arts, will be leading the day trip on Friday February 3rd, 2012.  The DIA is now featuring the temporary exhibition ‘Rembrandt and the Face of Jesus,’ which ends Feb. 12th.  The DIA has a restaurant/cafe and other amenities for lunch and breaks, although you are welcome to bring your own lunch as well.  For those who wish to attend, Dr. Lippert will give a 30-minute lecture on Contemporary art, and a 30-minute lecture on Renaissance art shortly after arrival at the museum, while visitors may spend the rest of the day viewing the galleries at their leisure (audio tours, etc. are available in the museum lobby).  The Rembrandt exhibit reservation begins at 4pm.  The chartered bus will depart from the William S. White building on the UM-F campus, (meet at 9:00am at the building entrance), and will depart from the DIA at 6:00pm.

Prices are as follows:

Bus ticket: $19 (includes taxes and gratuities)

DIA general admission ticket: $5 for students with valid i.d. and $8 for general public

Rembrandt exhibit at the DIA, group rate: $12 (note: you must notify the department or Dr. Lippert that you want a spot in the Rembrandt exhibit reservation by Friday January 27th at noon in order to be assured entrance to the exhibit)

To go on the trip:

-cash only, exact amounts needed

-tickets for the trip and museum must be paid in advance by Monday January 30th to Kristin Arntz (William S. White Building, Department of Communication and Visual Arts Office, room 4116–note that Kristin is usually in the office from 9-12 and 1-5 Mondays through Fridays, although she occasionally must step away for departmental business–you may leave a voicemail message at 810-766-6679 if you encounter problems)

-no refunds for the bus ticket will be granted UNLESS a bus is canceled due to low enrollment

-priority for bus-trip seats, in the event of a bus cancellation, will go to UM-F art-history students who are required to go on the trip

-seats on the bus are on a first-come-first-serve basis
