It’s time again for the Graduate Student Spotlight! This week’s student is Doctorate of Physical Therapy student, Elena Ghormley! Elena is a generous and civic-minded student of Physical Therapy. As part of her program, Elena is studying how to best help patients achieve their independence and maintain their health. Elena is deeply invested in her Flint community, and enjoys the ability to learn practical skills while also actively helping patients. She is passionate about the University of Michigan-Flint’s pro-bono clinic, the HEART clinic, where students can learn through helping those who come to the clinic and create individualized health plans for them. We’re always happy to see our students so engaged in creating a wonderful and caring community. Elena and her cohort are doing excellent work! We asked Elena our usual questions, and here’s what she had to say:
What’s Your Favorite Part of Your Graduate Program?
Our pro-bono clinic! We get to give back to the Flint community while also working on our skills as future physical therapists.
What’s Your Favorite Part of Campus?
The new Murchie study rooms (it makes me feel fancy while I study!)
Any Advice for Other Graduate Students?
“Let yourself be successful” is the best advice I ever received. Sometimes the scariest things in life are what bring you the most success and joy.
