Graduate Programs

Blogs from students, faculty & staff

Hello again everyone! Welcome back to the Graduate Student Spotlight! Today’s spotlighted student is Acute Care Nurse Practitioner student, Amy Lewis! As a Nurse Practitioner student, Amy works hard to keep up with all of her cohort as well as the latest news in the field. She will be completing her doctorate next year, and hopes to focus her research in cardiology. As a busy student, Amy appreciates the opportunity to connect with our faculty that work in the field, and collaborate with her cohort, making connections to help her and them in the future. She is passionate about the future of the practice, and hopes to put her skills to good use in her community! Thank you for participating, Amy! We asked her the usual questions, and here’s what she had to say:

What’s Your Favorite Part of Your Graduate Program?

Professors who are so relatable and passionate about the work nurse practitioners do. They hold us to a high standard but also treat us as peers, not just students.

What’s Been Your Favorite Class?

All my acute care nursing theory clinicals have been interesting and great experiences!

What’s Your Favorite Part of Campus?

The sim lab– it’s full of great materials and equipment!

Any Advice for Other Students?

Work hard. Don’t be afraid to reach out to professors. Try to get enough sleep. Don’t worry, graduation will be here eventually!
