Public Health & Health Sciences Blog

A few short years ago Amy Bacon was in critical condition with heart failure.  “I was so sick and yet so determined”.  She knew if she could get well she would educate the community on preventative health measures.  She is now in her second year of the Masters in Public Health Program at the University Of Michigan- Flint, and is also a research assistant with Dr. Suzuki.  Her area of research is in prenatal access in the minority community, she is looking to determine the factors that prevent women from receiving prenatal care during the first trimester.  She is also working on research with Dr. Hayman on how stress levels affect eating habits of children between the ages of 2 and 5.
