A community engagement partnership between Genesys Heart Institute and the University of Michigan Flint provided students an opportunity to engage in a community health education project. The students produced videos focused on the causes and prevention of heart disease in Flint and Genesee County. “It is a good way to get the information out that they (the students) would be comfortable doing and interested in doing,” said Shan Parker, who is overseeing the project. “The benefit for them is they will get an opportunity to highlight their knowledge, skills, and abilities.” All submitted videos were judged and scored by a panel of leaders from Genesys Heart Institute and UM-Flint. An the Winners are:
- Group 2 – Heart Health University – Tamarah Baker, Cody Chapman, Kristi Ryan, Cierra Stephens, & Steve Tran
- Group 4 – “The Day We Hope Never Comes” – Allysoon Brewer, Mariah Leach, Stephanie Martin, & Jordann McDonough
The winning groups received an Apple Watch. Congratulations to the winners on job well done.
