Dr. Kodjebacheva, assistant professor of health care administration in the Department of Public Health and Health Sciences, has received a grant from the Community Foundation of Greater Flint to investigate factors associated with non-adherence to treatment recommendations among children with sickle cell disease.  The project is in collaboration with Susumu Inoue, MD, Director of the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Services at the Hurley Medical Center.  David Gordon, MD, Dean of the UM-Flint School of Health Professions & Studies, is the project’s consultant.  Rebecca Pettengill from the UM-Flint Development & Alumni Relations Office also collaborated in the development of the study.  The joint research promotes research collaboration between the Department of Public Health and Health Sciences and Hurley Hospital in developing interventions that promote children’s health in Flint.
