Community Clean Up and Eggstravaganza

In collaboration with Student Government, the Department of Public Safety, and Planet Blue Ambassadors, Honors students spent the day giving back to the Flint community through a community cleanup and Easter egg hunt in River Village. The afternoon began with a neighborhood cleanup, where students, faculty, staff, and community members worked side-by-side with DPS to collect litter, refresh shared spaces, and demonstrate pride in the community surrounding our campus. Together, the group removed hundreds of pounds of trash, highlighting the impact of collective action and partnership.

Following the cleanup, the focus shifted to a festive Easter egg hunt for local families. Children and their families gathered for an afternoon filled with excitement, laughter, and spring-themed fun. Students helped organize the event, hide eggs, and engage with families, creating a welcoming and joyful environment. By the end of the day, the event reflected more than service—it fostered connection, strengthened relationships, and reinforced a shared sense of community between UM-Flint and River Village residents.
