This week on the Victors in Grad School podcast we are joined by Dr. Robert Carpenter who is the Deputy Chief Information Officer in the Division of Information Technology, Associate Provost within the Division of Academic Affairs and Professor of Economics and Public Policy at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. I talk with Dr. Carpenter about his own educational journey from being an Economics undergraduate at the University of Michigan-Flint and having a specific moment during his undergraduate experience that unlocked the idea of attending graduate school. Dr. Carpenter shares his own experiences at choosing to attend Washington University in St. Louis for his Master’s and PhD and how this opened up the opportunities that he has had in his own professional career. Dr. Carpenter explores research as well as relationships and also shares his own personal experiences in working with graduate students now as a faculty member at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
