Hello, University of Michigan-Flint, and welcome back for the Winter 2019 semester!

The Marian E. Wright Writing Center is open again, and we’ve made a few changes since you last saw us.

Schedule: our hours have changed, and we’re now open on Sundays.

Our new hours are as follows:

Monday – Thursday              9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Friday                                    9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Saturday                               Closed
Sunday                                 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.

New Tutors: We’ve hired seven new tutors, bringing our total number up to 21. These new recruits studied the art of tutoring with Dr. Jacob Blumner in ENG 363/563 last semester, and shadowed in the writing center every week. Practicing in the center under the watch of their mentors, these students honed the skills they needed to become effective tutors.

If you would like to join the M.E.W. Writing Center staff as a tutor, click here to learn how.

Walk-ins welcome! We’re now able to accommodate walk-in appointments Monday – Thursday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Whether you need some last minute help, or just ran into some unexpected free-time, take the time to stop by for a quick session. Keep in mind that during high-traffic times like midterms and finals, a walk-in appointment may not always be possible.

You can schedule appointments on our website to make sure we are ready for you.

Online Tutor Chats: Can’t make time to stop by the writing center, but have quick questions about writing, assignments, or ideas? Beginning Jan. 14th, we’ll be hosting live tutor chats every Monday and Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Once you join, you can use a microphone and/or camera to ask questions, brainstorm, develop ideas, and more. Click here to join our chatroom on bluejeans.com.

We wish you good luck with the upcoming semester, and encourage you to stop by the writing center whether you need help with an upcoming assignment, or just want a friend to bounce ideas off of. You can follow our Facebook and Twitter accounts for more news and updates. We hope to see you soon!
