At the end of February, 90 musicians — 70 students aged 9-18, 11 music instructors, and 11 volunteers from UM-Flint’s chapter of the National Association for Music Education — came together for a day of Mariachi lessons, collaboration, and celebration. 95% of the attendees were Hispanic, hailing from Ann Arbor, Detroit, Flint, and Pontiac.
