{"id":718,"date":"2018-04-18T14:50:15","date_gmt":"2018-04-18T14:50:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.umflint.edu\/writingcenter\/?p=718"},"modified":"2018-04-18T18:46:19","modified_gmt":"2018-04-18T18:46:19","slug":"stay-by-melissa-currier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.umflint.edu\/writingcenter\/2018\/04\/18\/stay-by-melissa-currier\/","title":{"rendered":"Stay by Melissa Currier"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This poem was chosen by our judges as the 3rd Place winner in our 5th Annual Poetry Contest.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Stay<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Open doors and open mind<\/p>\n<p>He cannot see what I can hide.<\/p>\n<p>Beneath the surface it must go<\/p>\n<p>To keep him here, keep him home.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The wind will blow beneath the door<\/p>\n<p>But with his help I can store<\/p>\n<p>The light before the pushing tide,<\/p>\n<p>To hold his head way up high.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This life he knows it cannot stay<\/p>\n<p>And with my help he will not stray.<\/p>\n<p>We can hold on to our love<\/p>\n<p>And keep things high up as the dove.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I can succeed in all I have<\/p>\n<p>And keep things well above the storm.<\/p>\n<p>For with him as my guide<\/p>\n<p>I know our life is strong.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This poem was chosen by our judges as the 3rd Place winner in our 5th Annual Poetry Contest. &nbsp; Stay &nbsp; Open doors and open mind He cannot see what I can hide.
