{"id":633,"date":"2017-04-26T13:40:14","date_gmt":"2017-04-26T13:40:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.umflint.edu\/writingcenter\/?p=633"},"modified":"2017-04-26T17:41:54","modified_gmt":"2017-04-26T17:41:54","slug":"coming-full-circle-by-marybeth-phillips","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.umflint.edu\/writingcenter\/2017\/04\/26\/coming-full-circle-by-marybeth-phillips\/","title":{"rendered":"Coming Full Circle by Marybeth Phillips"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This poem was the 3rd Place Winner in our 4th Annual Poetry Contest.<\/p>\n<p>At the age of seventeen,<\/p>\n<p>I started my life,<\/p>\n<p>Intending to be a professional,<\/p>\n<p>Instead, I became a wife.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I cooked, I cleaned,<\/p>\n<p>I ironed, I sewed,<\/p>\n<p>I raised three children,<\/p>\n<p>I carried quite a load.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>While others graduated<\/p>\n<p>And accomplished their goals,<\/p>\n<p>My life was redirected<\/p>\n<p>To guiding three little souls.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Now I am to the age,<\/p>\n<p>Of fifty plus one,<\/p>\n<p>Proud to have my family<\/p>\n<p>Including a new grandson.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I am now a senior,<\/p>\n<p>With my graduation in sight,<\/p>\n<p>And I finally feel,<\/p>\n<p>I have done something right.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Not only will I achieve<\/p>\n<p>My long &#8211; awaited degree,<\/p>\n<p>But my beautiful children,<\/p>\n<p>Will be proud of me.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This poem was the 3rd Place Winner in our 4th Annual Poetry Contest.
