“Don’t be one-dimensional. Strive to learn what social work looks like from a micro, mezzo, and macro perspective. Being well-rounded will help you better serve your desired client population.” Charles Banks, May 2016 UM-Flint BSW graduate, offers advice to current social work undergraduates.

Pursuing his master’s degree at U-M, Banks is a Geriatric Scholar studying Interpersonal Practice and Aging in Families and Society. His field placement is at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor. At UM-Flint, he was active in the Social Work Club of the University of Michigan – Flint, NASW-Michigan, and volunteered in the Flint community.
