On Giving Blueday Dec. 1, consider making a donation to the UM-Flint Dale Edward Kildee Education Scholarship Fund. Established in honor of Congressman Kildee’s commitment to education and the University of Michigan-Flint, it supports undergraduate and graduate students aspiring to enter the profession of education.
UM-Flint education student Marissa McCann is a recipient of this scholarship, and she also leads the Early Childhood Education Club. Marissa reflects on what this scholarship has meant to her.
How is this scholarship helping you to achieve your goals at UM-Flint?
“This scholarship is helping me achieve my academic goals by allowing me to continue to take classes. This scholarship puts me at ease knowing that a portion of my tuition is paid for. It helps to pay for other academic-related costs such as textbooks.”
What is your career goal?
“My career goal is work in an early childhood classroom after graduating. I currently work at the Early Childhood Development Center on campus. It has been an amazing experience. I have worked with preschoolers for the last two years and would love to continue to work with that age. I want to continue my education and earn a master’s degree.”
