Security is our top priority at ITS. There have been a few waves of phishing emails lately, trying to steal your UM-Flint credentials. We just want to remind faculty, staff, and students to be diligent and watch out for the signs of phishing emails. Below are some general guidelines and things to watch out for:
- ITS will never ask for your password, or any personal information in an email, because email is not a secure form of communication.
- Look at the sender email address, if it’s not from the following email addresses then it’s not from us:
- If you ever have any doubts about an email or just want to report phishing or spam email to us, forward the email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have any other questions feel free to call us at 810-762-3123 option 1 or stop by the Helpdesk in 206 MSB or 3174 WSW. For further details about phishing or spam, see the University of Michigan Ann Arbor safe computing resource here.
