ITS is happy to announce the implementation of Microsoft Lync.  Microsoft Lync will be pushed to all university owned computers starting Thursday, May 9th, 2013 at 9:00pm.  The update will be completed by Monday, May 13th, 2013 at 8:00am.  Microsoft Lync will replace the current Microsoft Communicator.  If you are currently using communicator, your contacts will be migrated to Microsoft Lync and there will be no need to rebuild your contact lists.

Microsoft Lync has many new features including screen sharing and video chat.

  • Chat, Voice, and Video communication options
  • Lync Meetings
  • Desktop/Application Sharing abilities

Dennese Bandyk, the campus trainer, will also be holding two brown-bag sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 7th and 8th to show some of the features of Microsoft Lync.  Please watch your email for more information or contact the ITS Helpdesk for more information.

If Lync is not automatically installed on your University computer you may manually install it by running the following file on Monday, May 13th, 2013: L:ITS Recommended ApplicationsLync2010InstallLync.cmd.
