The coordination team is primarily responsible for organizing and overseeing the professional development days for teachers, the advisory group meetings, the school administration meetings, creating the rubric and overseeing mini-grant applications, and advising outreach and communication materials. This group meets once a month.
Lindsay Stoddard, University Outreach Multimedia Designer, University of Michigan-Flint: Lindsay has years of experience working with University Outreach to design the department’s promotional materials. With a photography background, an intimate knowledge of Flint, and an aptitude for using technology to design, Lindsay will serve as the Flint Area Hub’s promotional material designer.
M’Lis Bartlett, University of Michigan-Ann Arbor: M’Lis Bartlett, MLA, and current PhD student at the School of Natural Resources and Environment in Ann Arbor, was formerly the Executive Director for the non-profit, Friends of the High School for Environmental Studies, based in NY, NY. The Friends was a national model of how to integrate environmental issues into a standard high school curriculum increasing attendance and test scores. At this position, M’Lis worked to integrate environmental concepts into all disciplines, coordinated teacher professional development opportunities, student career development/guidance, and community-school partnerships. M’Lis will serve as the project advisor for Discovering Place.
Charles Simon, University Outreach Discovering Place Intern, is a student at the University of Michigan – Flint majoring in Elementary Education. Simon has worked with students since he was 17 years old on various grant funded and after-school programs in Beecher and Flint.
Nic Custer, University Outreach Innovation Incubator Program Assistant, is a 2011 University of Michigan- Flint graduate and Managing Editor for East Village Magazine, a monthly nonprofit neighborhood news magazine. Nic will serve as blog administrator for Discovering Place.
