East Lansing, Michigan
The group took a filed trip to the MSU Science Festival. There were hands-on activities, plus demonstrations, discussions, lectures, and tours on topics from astronomy to music to zoology. The girls enjoyed talking to a variety of experts and performing hands-on activities such as viewing strands of DNA by extracting the DNA from strawberries, using maggots to create artwork, exploring changes in sound travel using spoons and string, and learning about Michigan’s wildlife by seeing frogs and amphibians from the region. They also enjoyed learning about energy, physics, and chemistry at demo shows such as Kaboomistry and the Zeemo Science of Spinning show.
