During this multi-week project, Mr. Joe Grathoff joined us from Hurley today to help us understand the value of computer programming and how programmers communicate with each other in their coding. The girls were then able to use small computer arduino boards with their LittleBits to turn bananas into musical instruments and build their own remote controlled car-bots using simple code. They were challenged to use the Arduino computer language to make their car-bots self navigate through a defined path on the maps that they created. When they were done, they competed to complete a set of 6 programming and building challenges in under 30 minutes. It was amazing to see how much they had learned from this unit and that they were able to apply it all to new situations.
