Project Description
Using sodium hydroxide and lard, the girls worked in the University of Michigan-Flint’s newly renovated laboratory spaces to synthesize soap.
What We Learned
The girls learned about safe practices in laboratoy settings, how to use basic laboratory glassware and instruments, how to synthesize soap, and what molecular characteristics make soap remove dirt and oil so well!
