She&#8217;s also part of a large group of university and community members who created and published a new book \u2014\u00a0<em>Artists Treading Water: Defining the Flint Water Crisis Through Art<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This was a collaborative project between students, alumni, faculty, and staff of both the University of Michigan-Flint and Mott Community College and artists and children from the local area,&#8221; noted Glover. &#8220;The project tackled a tragedy that happened in my hometown that affected not only myself but family, friends, and colleagues. These amazing artists were also able to voice their concerns through artistic expressions. Therefore, the project included five things that I am extremely passionate about which are the city of Flint, art, education, children, and community involvement.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The book is a collection of written word and visual art. Glover is enthusiastic about both its creation and about increasing its readership.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I hope this book brings continued awareness to the Flint Water Crisis and sparks conversations about what happened here and solutions that will not only help us recover but keep this from happening again,&#8221; she said. &#8220;We are building future leaders who will one day become our political leaders so it important to have those tough conversations so we may educate our children who will one day lead our nation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>Artists Treading Water<\/em> is available in both print forms and as an e-book on Amazon.com.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gale Glover, a staff member in the departments of Art &amp; Art History and Communication Studies, is a UM-Flint alumna, entrepreneur, and passionate Flint community member.
