Here at the writing center, we look at academic papers, personal statements, resumes, and cover letters. However, did you know that we also work with creative writing? We do! We are always excited to read creative personal projects. Not only are we willing to help get your creative juices flowing in a tutoring appointment, but we also offer many opportunities for you to explore your creativity.
We have the Writer’s Circle starting up soon, which runs from January 30th to April 3rd and meets Tuesdays from 5:00 – 6:30pm here in the writing center. We also have coming up in February the 4th Annual Love Stinks Writing Contest.
For the Love Stinks contest, you can create your best, worst, or even most disastrous love poem or creative short story. (Love poems must be 25 or less lines in length and must be original; creative short stories must be 1 – 3 pages in length and must be original as well). It’s tough to find time to unwind and write creatively, but sometimes, you just have to tell yourself that you’re going to make the time and do it. Who knows, you may come up with something brilliant! And of course, if you’d like help with your creative endeavors, our hours are below:
Monday-Thursday: 9 AM-7 PM
Friday: 9 AM-4 PM
Saturday: 12 Noon-4 PM
