Nursing Reference Center - Check It Out! August 29, 2008

The newest health care database to join the Thompson Library lineup is the Nursing Reference Center. Its publisher describes it as

a clinical resource for nurses and ancillary health professionals. It provides evidence-based information about patient care, safety, and education, throughout the continuum of care…developed to address two important issues:

  • The need for immediate, credible clinical information; and
  • Access to an extensive nursing database for research and continuing nursing education.

It includes point-of-care information and clinical evidence from full-text documents covering conditions and diseases, patient education resources, drug information, continuing education, lab and diagnosis detail, best practice guidelines, as well as other information.

You can create your own password- protected NRC profile for access from home or office, and free continuing education credits are available through the NRC by clicking the “Continuing Education” tab.  Information sheets are available on how the NRC can help nurses meet JCAHO standards and how it supports the ANCC’s 14 Forces of Magnetism.

The Nursing Reference Center is found on the Thompson Library’s Health Care: Online Resources page under “Databases.”  Training is available at http://training.ebsco.com, or contact Paul Streby or Laura Friesen-Lynn with questions or comments.
