New Books at the Thompson Library July 11, 2008
Posted by Paul Streby in : FYI, New @ the Library , add a commentWondering what new tomes grace the shelves of the Thompson Library? Wonder no more. You can see them for yourself on Reference Table 3, which is located behind the Reference Desk on the library’s 3rd floor. They will be there for about a month (and can be checked out), until they are replaced by the next batch of new books.
You can also view a list of the latest additions on the Thompson Library website. On the navigation bar (the gray bar on the left side of each web page), there is the link “New Books,” which opens an Excel spreadsheet. This link will keep the same address, but the content of the spreadsheet will be updated monthly.
Enjoy your reading!
Interlibrary Loan Now Through Ann Arbor July 8, 2008
Posted by rhoubeck in : FYI, Library News, New @ the Library , add a commentStarting July 1, the Ann Arbor campus’ University Library will be providing interlibrary loan service to Flint users – faculty, staff, and students. The project is a six-month pilot to test this type of remote service arrangement, and is renewable for an additional six months. To access the service, Flint users will click on the “Delivery Services” link of the Thompson Library homepage, then click on “Login to ILLiad.” To login to ILLiad, Flint users will need to use their Kerberos/Ann Arbor password (the same password faculty and staff use for WolverineAccess or to order books through Mirlyn’s “Get This” feature).
Use interlibrary loan 1) when the book you want is not in either the Flint or the Ann Arbor collections (if the book is in Ann Arbor, use “Get This” to order it); or 2) when a periodical article you want is not in the Flint print or digital collections. Most periodical articles will be supplied by a link in an e-mail reply, usually within 24 hours.
It’s very important that you check the Mirlyn catalog for availability before you order an item through interlibrary loan! Under terms of our pilot-agreement, Ann Arbor will charge Flint for each request, and we don’t want to pay for items that a user could have accessed for free had he or she searched Mirlyn first.
For more information about this experimental initiative, contact Thompson Library Director Bob Houbeck (rhoubeck@umflint.edu) or Circulation Services Manager Lesa Quade (lquade@umflint.edu).
