The nominees for this year’s Staff Recognition Award were outstanding, and on behalf of the 2012 Staff Recognition Awards Committee, it is my pleasure to announce that our winners are:

The winners and nominees will be honored on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 from 9:00 to 11:00 am (with an Award program at 10:00), in the Michigan Rooms.  Please plan to attend the Staff Assembly breakfast to congratulate them. Thank you to those who nominated someone; it was quite a tribute to read the nomination letters.  This was a very difficult decision for the committee and we would like to congratulate all the nominees:

From Marilyn Harvey, Staff Council Member and United Way Campaign Coordinator:

We are kicking off the annual United Way Campaign sponsored by the University of Michigan-Flint Staff Council. The United Way of Genesee County provides funding in three focus areas: Child/Youth Development, Older Adults, and Basic Needs/Strengthening Families. Some of agencies and programs supported by the United Way that we would like to highlight include SKIP Program, Red Cross, Shelter of Flint and YWCA.

Our goal is to raise $15,000 between Tuesday, November 8, 2011 and Monday, November 28, 2011.
If you have not received your general donation form by Monday, November 21, 2011, please contact Marilyn Harvey @ maharvey@umflint.edu or 424-5275. If you wish to designate your gift to a specific agency/program, please contact one of the Team United Way Campaign Coordinators listed below for the special designation form.

We are excited to have incentives for your donations to the United Way! Our Grand Prize is one year of free parking on campus! We will hold a drawing on each day of the campaign for many small incentives which have been provided by the United Way or donated by our wonderful university departments (e.g. mugs, tote bags, tee-shirts, pens, key holders, just to name a few).

If you have items your department would like to donate, please contact Karen Arthur @ karthur@umflint.edu or call 766-6658.

The final drawing will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2011. All donors will be included in the final drawing, including those who won small incentives. A complete list of the donated incentives will accompany the announcement of the winners of the first several drawings.

SPECIAL INCENTIVE: If you give $3.00 per week ($156.00 or more), the United Way will mail you a Community Thank You Card. The Card will give you access to discounts at approximately 30 local businesses such as automotive, entertainment, food stores, restaurants, miscellaneous services, and retail stores. You must provide your home address on your donation form, as Community Thank You Cards will be sent through the postal mail in June 2012 and are valid for one year.

Should you have a recommendation of a business in your area (in Genesee County) who may want to participate in the Community Thank You Card, please contact Cindy Cromwell @ 810-762-5827.

You may drop off your donations to any of the Team United Way coordinators listed below or send them via campus mail to Marilyn Harvey, 105 Recreation Center. We look forward to your support and thank you for your generosity!
