URGENT: Microsoft Security Updates October 23, 2008
Posted by turnip in : Blogroll , add a commentDear Campus Community,
Microsoft has released a critical update for the following Windows products:
Windows XP
Windows server 2000
Windows server 2003
These software versions contain a vulnerability that could allow an attacker to remotely run arbitrary code on the system.
ITS is pushing out the update now to all of your office computers as well as the ITS servers. We are going to start rebooting our servers immediately. Please save any documents you are working on immediately. Once the patch is installed you will have to reboot your computer. It is imperative that you do this as soon as possible. If you have a PC/Server that you are responsible for (including those you may have at home) please apply this patch as soon as possible. If you do not receive a “reboot” notice in the next hour from your computer, which is an indication that the patch has been installed, you can obtain the update by running windows update, or by downloading the update from Microsoft’s website at:

Thank you,
