Network Resources Down January 25, 2008

Last night during our weekly maintenance window ITS experienced a significant failure of one of the servers which provides departmental drive (I:\ drive), O: drive, MACPUB, and PCPUB (L: drive) support. This system has a failover and when we switched to the failover system it failed as well. Technicians have been working to restore the server since 11:30 PM last night. We expect to have it back online before noon today. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

New Helpdesk Staff January 15, 2008

I would like to take a few minutes to welcome three new Helpdesk staff to the ITS team. Daniel Crain, Zachary Powers, and Richard Orman started this semester and have endured the first two weeks of the semester excellently. With over 500 calls the first week of class they are all learning quickly and have already used their previous knowledge to overcome several challenges. They will continue to be excellent assets to the Helpdesk team. Please take a moment if you stop by the Helpdesk and say “Hi.”

Phishing Scam, Re: Verify Your Umflint Email Account Now, January 15, 2008

Dear User Community,

It appears that it did not take long for the email phishers to target our campus once they targeted Ann Arbor. If you received the message below please DO NOT respond to it, just delete it. This was not sent by anyone in ITS nor will anyone from ITS ask for your account information in an email and we are certainly not deleting anyone’s accounts.

Extended Hours for the New Semester January 3, 2008

We would like to welcome everyone back from break. We hope everyone had a nice holiday.

For the first two weeks of the semester, the ITS HelpDesk will be extending its hours to 8:00am to 8:00pm, Monday through Friday.  On Monday, January 21st, we will return to our normal schedule: 8:00am-5:00pm on Monday/Wednesday/Friday and 8:00am-6:30pm on Tuesday/Thursday.

This change only applies to the main branch of the ITS HelpDesk at 207 Murchie Science Building, the satellite ITS HelpDesk at 3174 William S. White Building hours will remain the same: 8:00am-Noon, Monday through Friday.
