This session will offer a “live” demonstration of the new Crestron MediaManager class presentation system. Learn how to navigate the touch screen control panel for split-screen projection of course material, audio levels, DVD player and on-board computer and internet access. As a replacement to the SmartCart, learn the ins and outs of this latest technology addition to the French Hall classrooms. (Note: this session is offered twice)

French Hall Classroom Status August 27, 2008
Posted by drowden in : General News, Mediated Classroom Services News , add a commentDue to the ongoing construction in French Hall, the installation of the projection screens in the classroom has been delayed. Therefore the Mediated Classroom Equipment will not be available for the beginning of classes. The projected date for completion is by the second week of September.
Please be aware that the affected classrooms are located on the 1st, 4th, and 5th floor. If your course is also scheduled on the 2nd or 3rd floors, these rooms are fully functional with our new Crestron Media Manager. MCS will be posting updates by classroom on the following website:

Renovated FH classrooms feature new equipment! January 9, 2008
Posted by rweidner in : General News, Instructional Technology Tips, Mediated Classroom Services News, New Technologies , add a commentWhen the second floor of French Hall reopened this semester it had not only an entirely new look, but also brand-new, hi-tech equipment. Instructors and students using 201, 212, 250, or 251 FH will have the privilege of using the new Media Crestron Control System. The new classroom carts still contain familiar equipment found in the previous A/V Carts and Smart Carts (a computer, DVD/VCR combo, Document Camera), but they are controlled by the new Crestron systems. Instructors can easily make use of all equipment in the classroom, including overhead projectors and screens, by simply utilizing the touchscreen Crestron controls. Additional features to aid in the classroom will be added to the Crestron system throughout the semester.

New Full-time MCS Technician: Abe Rashmawi February 5, 2007

Abe has been a member of ITS for several years as a temporary employee, and has been a part of the MCS group since it was first created. Abe completed his undergraduate degree in Computer Information Systems at the University of Michigan-Flint. Abe’s first official day in his new position is February 5, 2007.

VOIP Phones are available in WSW & MSB General Classrooms. These Voice Over IP (VOIP) Phones work just like any campus telephone; to call for assistance, simply pickup the receiver and dial any 5-digit on-campus extension. Upgrades to Smartcarts August 10, 2006
Posted by admin in : Mediated Classroom Services News , add a commentBefore the beginning of the Fall semester, Mediated Classroom Services (MCS) will upgrade all of the computers in Smartcarts and other mediated equipment to the Dell Optiplex 620, which has 2 Gigabytes of RAM.
Smartcarts Will No Longer have Zip Drives
The new computers will have a 3″ floppy drive, plus a DVD drive that will burn CDs. Other options for accessing your files include:
- Personal (H:\) or Departmental (I:\) directories are available for saving data on the campus server. For more information, see the flyer: What is the Personal Directory (H: drive or Homedrive)?
- A USB Drive also known as a flash drive, keychain drive, thumb drive, or pen drive is a form of digital storage. For more information, see the flyer: What is a USB Drive?
New Keyboards with added Features
- USB ports to connect multiple USB devices (such as your mouse or thumb drive) is located on the keyboard.
- Choice of pointing device to use: Trackpoint, touchpad, or both.
